Immaculate Conception School Board met Jan. 21.
Here is the minutes provided by the board:
Meeting brought to order by at 7:00 p.m.
Opening Prayer: Fr. Carl led the prayer.
Roll Call:
Attendees: Tammy Hoeflinger, Jean Swip, Donna Frederick, Megan Gilbreth, Toby Ellner, Trish Adams, Janice Schaefer, Ray Farley, Donna Videmschek, Deidra Doerr, Jason Moore, Keith Huels, Lisa Barnes, Parish Council
Mike Kish and Fr. Carl.
Not attending: Katie Hrdlicka Welcoming of Guests:
Approval of Minutes: November and December Minutes approved : Motion to approve by Megan Gilbreth and seconded by Janice Schaefer. All in favor. No opposed.
Parents and Friends Report: Over $2700 in requests were funded. The committee is getting very excited for the Dinner Auction that will be held in our new gym. Reservations are going very well so far.
Pastoral Council Report: At the last meeting, the Welcoming committee came and discussed what they all do. They organize and plan the welcoming Sunday each month and also go and meet any new parishioners at their house and take their picture. They are always looking for new members to help them. Stewardship of Charity meeting is coming up in February.
Faculty Report: No report
1) Teacher/Employee Committee: No report. Will start on this next month.
2) Development Committee: Open House is all organized and will be this Sunday from 12-2. All board members are invited to help out.
3) Curriculum Committee: Donna Videmschek met with Mrs. Schauster and Mrs. Taylor regarding curriculum. They discussed the app situation and what each grade is using. A decision should be made and the teachers will use it. Discussed missing work policy that the upper grades are using. Curriculum is reviewed every seven years for accreditation. 4) Athletic Committee: The committee will meet with Tara Kennedy in the next week or so to check in with her. Discussed volleyball uniforms and what each grade is wearing. Hoping to get new volleyball uniforms next year.
5) Budget Committee: Discussed with Keith Huels. Discussed his report. Reminders went out to families that are behind on bills. Stewardship was discussed.
6) Discernment Committee: No report. We will start all this preparing towards the end of February.
7) Building/Grounds Committee: The committee is working on signs for the playground, and signs for the upper parking lot. No smoking, no cell phone use, etc. The committee will meet with Keith Huels and also Parish Council.
8) Ad Hoc Committee: The committee is working on a survey about the new school. This will be emailed out to our parents.
Principal’s Report:
1. Everyone should see the movie Just Mercy or read the book.
2. We have three seniors coming from Gibault for Senior Project in March.
3. Could we have an annual parking spot by the gym to auction off. Maybe listed under school activities and maybe a minimum bid. The board thought that would be fine.
4. Curtains for the stage should be in by the dinner auction. This will be a great addition.
5. The Columbia Rotary club contacted Mr. Kish to create a Crusader of Character award at ICS. The rules were discussed. Trish Adams made a motion to start this award with the Rotary Club. Megan Gilbreth seconded the motion. All were in favor. No opposed.
6. Fathers Club, has a new president in Ben Baker. Devin Dalpoas was president for seven years. The Club has raised nearly a quarter of a million dollars under Devin’s leadership.
7. We received a grant for $9,900 for technology and another for $5000 for Band/Music.
Pastor’s Report: Fr. Carl ordered some copies of Letter to a Suffering Church by Bishop Robert Barron. These were also available for the board members. Full Stewardship brochures went out to everyone a few weeks ago. Stewardship envelopes are in the gathering area. Pick yours up. Acts retreat this coming weekend for women. The 7th anniversary for our dedication of our new church is next week. We will have an all school Mass on Monday with the school children. February 9th is the Stewardship of Charity meeting after Mass. Fr. Carl will be gone from January 27-February 10th for his winter warm up. Fr. Gary will be doing masses. Fr. Eric will also be back from the Holy Land and will help out.
Old Business: None
New Business: A parent asked about our milk change. Chester Dairy closed, we now have skim milk? We will check into that. The kids are saying they don’t like it.
Fr. Carl closed the meeting with prayer at 8:25 p.m.
The Board then went into Executive Session.
