City of Monmouth City Council met March 3.
Here are the minutes provided by the council:
I. CALL TO ORDER & PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Mayor Rod Davies called the meeting to order in the Council Chambers at City Hall, 100 East Broadway at 6:00 p.m. and led the audience in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag.
II. ROLL CALL
Deputy City Clerk Melissa Teel called the roll and those answering Present were: Alderman Brad Bone (remote), Susan Twomey (remote), Juan Pinedo, Kevin Ferry and John VanVleet Absent: Aldermen Jay Grant, Brian Daw and Jim Conard Also Present: Mayor Rod Davies, City Attorney Marcum Spears, Communications Director Ken Helms, MFD Chief Casey Rexroat, MPD Chief Joe Switzer Also Absent: City Administrator Lew Steinbrecher, City Clerk Susan S. Trevor, Woodard and Curran Public Works Director Brayden Bledsoe and Building and Zoning Director Joe Clark
City Attorney Spears stated there was not a quorum present to conduct a regular meeting as remote attendance cannot be used to constitute a quorum. Issues may be discussed but no action can be taken.
III. PRESENTATIONS
1. MPD Chief Switzer presented Lifesaving Awards to Investigator A.J. Cox, Sgt. Lucas Johnson and Officer Larry Myers for their exceptional professionalism and quick thinking upon arriving on the scene where two people were in urgent need of medical attention. They provided immediate first aid and coordinated with dispatch to ensure additional medical assistance was promptly underway. The officer’s dedication and commitment to provide aid in a critical situation exemplifies the highest standard of public service and merits recognition. Mayor Davies thanked them for their outstanding service.
2. Mayor Davies asked Collen Davis who was representing County Market’s request for a liquor pour license if she still wished to make her presentation even though the Council could not take any action on her request or if she wanted to wait until the March 17th Council Meeting when action could be taken. Ms. Davis stated she would come back on March 17th to make her request.
IV. ADJOURNMENT
Mayor Davies then announced due to there being no quorum to conduct a regular Council Meeting, the meeting stands adjourned at 6:05 p.m.
