Recycle your natural holiday trees at the drop-off site sponsored by Lowe's, Waste Management, and the City of Galesburg. Beginning Christmas Day and ending January 4th, 2023, natural holiday trees can be dropped off at the west side of Lowe's parking lot, located at 531 West Carl Sandburg Drive, for recycling.

Monmouth barber became successful entrepreneur

If the internet had existed in 1890, Oscar Zimmerman likely would have started the first shave club for men. Born in 1855 in Chicago to a Prussian-born liquor merchant, the talented tonsorial artist had come to Monmouth as a young man, where he apprenticed under Morris Scheibel, a German barber who operated a shop under Union Hall on South Main and later on Market Alley.

Crowning Achievements

When 74 young women compete Jan. 20-22 in the Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant at the Crowne Plaza in Springfield, Monmouth College will be well represented.Juniors Maddie Blaesing of Monmouth and Maddie Wilson of Wyoming, Illinois, earned the right to compete during the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs as winners of the pageants in Warren and Stark County, respectively.
