Call to Order/Roll Call

The Community Unit School District #205 Board of Education met for a special meeting on Monday, September 15, 2025 at 5:30 PM at 940 W. Fremont St., Galesburg, IL. The roll was read and the following Members responded: Harter, Lyon, Phelps, Rodriguez, Scherpe, Statham, Taylor (7) Roll Call #1

Closed Session

It was moved by Member Phelps and seconded by Member Taylor to move to closed session for the purpose of a student disciplinary hearing. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Lyon, Phelps, Rodriguez, Scherpe, Statham, Taylor, Harter (7) Motion carried. Roll Call #2

It was moved by Member Phelps and seconded by Member Scherpe to return to open session. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Rodriguez, Scherpe, Statham, Taylor, Harter, Lyon, Phelps (7) Motion carried. Roll Call #3

Action

It was moved by Member Scherpe and seconded by Member Rodriguez to approve to uphold the ten-day suspension from school for student ID #09152025 and to expel student ID #09152025 for the remainder of the 2025-2026 school year with the expulsion held in abeyance for the purpose of the student to attend the Regional Office of Education safe school. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Scherpe, Statham, Taylor, Harter, Lyon, Phelps, Rodriguez (7)

Motion carried. Roll Call #4

Adjournment

It was moved by Member Phelps and seconded by Member Taylor that the meeting be adjourned—6:17 PM. On voice vote the following Members voted AYE: Harter, Phelps, Scherpe, Statham, Taylor, Rodriguez, Lyon (7) Motion carried. Roll Call #5
