Knoxville Community Unit School District #202 Board of Education met April 28

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Community Unit School District #202, Knox County, met in a Special (Reorganizational) meeting duly called and held April 28, 2025 at 5:45 p.m. at 809 East Main Street, Knoxville, Illinois, which is within the boundaries of said District. The President called the meeting to order and directed that the roll be called. Upon roll being called, the following members were found to be present:

Mr. Clayton, Dr. Harshbarger, Mr. Hillery, Mrs. McCracken, Mr. Ratermann, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Rose

Recognition of Visitors: Jacob Thompson, Chad Clevenger, Elizabeth Clevenger, Barb Thompson, Annette Kelso, Joli Luptak, Kim Steele, Lisa Pomazal, Joy Link, Jolene Parrish, Mark Parrish, Amy Hopper, Kristy Kirgan, Jillyn Kirgan, Meredith Hinchee, Stacey Farrell, Austin King, Pam Brown, Terrah Myers, Deborah Dunlap, Frank Hopkins, Megan Schaefer, Jen Bowker, Tom Hoehn, Brittney Hageman, Brittney Allen, Tracy Sharp, Krista Gunther, Haley Winick, Lori Shepherd, Mallory Tolley, Sandy Pemberton, Mandi Shreeves, Dawn Cypert, Cheslie Bowman, Kim McGuire, Raven Stoneking, Madison Squire,

Also present were: Dr. Guerrero, Jodi Grace, Kelli Nelson, Arryn Small, Matt Maaske, Michelle McClay, Adam Mize, Brad Weedman

Public Comments - None

Vicki Rose read aloud the April 1, 2025 Consolidated Election Results.

Within the Knox Township Chuck Hillery - 514, Darcy Young - 340, Phillip Parks - 272 with two seats available Mr. Hillery and Mrs. Young won. Derek Clayton ran unopposed in the Remaining Congressional with 479 votes. There was one seat available.

Mr. Clayton, Mr. Hillery and Mrs. Young recited the Oath of Office.

Election of Board Members

5 .1 President of the Knoxville School Board of Education

Nominations are as follows:

Mr. Hillery nominated Mr. Ratermann

Mrs. McCracken nominated Mrs. Young

Mr. Ratermann nominated Mrs. Rose

Votes:

Mr. Clayton - Rose

Dr. Harshbarger - Rose

Mr. Hillery - Ratermann

Mrs. McCracken - Young

Mr. Ratermann - Rose

Mrs. Young- Young

Mrs. Rose - Rose

Rose (4), Young (2), Ratermann (1)

Mrs. Rose will serve as the President of the Knoxville School Board of Education.

5.2 Vice President of the Knoxville School Board of Education

Nominations are as follows:

Dr. Harshbarger - Ratermann

Mr. Hillery - Ratermann

AYE: Mr. Clayton, Dr. Harshbarger, Mr. Hillery, Mrs. McCracken, Mr. Ratermann, Mrs. Rose

NAY: Mrs. Young

Mr. Ratermann will serve as the Vice President of the Knoxville School Board of Education.

5.3 Secretary of the Knoxville School Board of Education

Nominations are as follows:

Mrs. McCracken - Harshbarger

Mrs. Rose - Clayton

Votes:

Mr. Clayton - Clayton

Dr. Harshbarger - Clayton

Mr. Hillery - Clayton

Mrs. McCracken - Harshbarger

Mr. Ratermann - Clayton

Mrs. Young- Harshbarger

Mrs. Rose - Clayton 

Mr. Clayton will serve as the Secretary of the Knoxville School Board of Education.

It was moved by Member McCrackem and seconded by Member Ratermann the Approval of the Board of Education Meeting Dates, Time and Location for the July 2025 - June 2026 meetings.

AYE: Mrs. McCracken, Mr. Ratermann, Mr. Clayton, Dr. Harshbarger,

Mr. Hillery, Mrs. Young, Mrs. Rose

NAY: None

Whereupon the President declared the Motion carried.

9. Adjournment

There being no further business to come before the Board, it was moved by Member Ratermann and seconded by Member McCracken that the meeting be adjourned. The President put the question to the Board and the motion was unanimously carried and the meeting was so adjourned at 5:57 p.m.
