FOIA Request to Warren County Il Clerk Election Division Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.
As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at Galesburg Reporter have sent a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (5 ILCS 140) to the Warren County Il Clerk Election Division.
Our request pertains specifically to the upcoming elections. We have asked for a list of all candidates that are running in these elections. The information we requested includes each candidate's first, middle, and last name; the office they are running for; the jurisdiction of that office; and their party affiliation.
In addition, we also requested all contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
Access to public records is essential for us at Galesburg Reporter to fulfill our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. As members of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
