LC-24-0901 Consider P.A.V.E.R. Award nomination for 95 N Seminary

Member Klohn expressed concern that there were some issues with the front exterior, especially the front doors extending over the steps, and was unsure if a P.A.V.E.R. had ever been awarded for a project still in progress. Member Miener shared these concerns, but Member Martin noted that his P.A.V.E.R. was awarded when he had some minor exterior work still to finish.

Members Woolsey and Klohn both raised the idea of sending the Knox-Galesburg Symphony a letter of recognition for their progress so far and their commitment to the community. Member Martin requests that the letter of recognition be printed on certificate-quality paper and framed before being conveyed to the Symphony.

Member Woolsey appreciated the effort put in to renovate the Farm Bureau Building and noted the Community Arts Center’s work on Main Street may also be deserving of a similar letter. Member Woolsey makes a motion to award a framed letter of recognition to the Knox-Galesburg Symphony for their adaptive re-use of 95 N Seminary Street, seconded by Member Martin. The agreed upon language is a letter of recognition for their commitment to the community and future efforts towards preserving a downtown historic property.

Motion was approved by voice vote.

General Updates

Staff updated the Members that, unless there was urgent business, the regularly scheduled meetings for October and November will likely be canceled. Staff has a workshop in Springfield on October 1, and November 5 is Election Day.

There being no further business, Member Woolsey made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Member Klohn, approved by voice vote the meeting adjourned at 5:59 P.M.
