City of Galesburg Landmark Commission met Aug. 6
Here are the minutes provided by the commission:
MEMBERS PRESENT: Suzanne Klohn, Mark Martin, Bob Miener, Deb Sugai, Greta Woolsey, 5.
MEMBERS ABSENT: None.
OTHERS PRESENT: Lucas Brooks, Associate Planner.
Staff declared a quorum was present.
Approve Minutes of July 16, 2024.
Member Woolsey made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Member Sugai.
Minutes were approved by voice vote.

None.
LC-24-0801 Consider Annual Historic Preservation Awards
Members discussed several properties for further research by Staff. Member Woolsey mentioned the Knox-Galesburg Symphony’s restoration work on the Farm Bureau building at 95 N Seminary St. Member Klohn mentioned the Central Congregational Church’s ongoing work to restore their stained glass, although this work is not yet complete. Member Sugai mentioned a house undergoing restoration near the corner of Prairie St and Grove St (potentially 464 N Prairie St).
Members agreed that Staff would further investigate the restoration work done on the Farm Bureau building and reach out the Symphony’s executive director.
LC-24-0802 Discuss General Updates
Staff updated members that the applicant for LC-24-0702 withdrew their tabled application. Members agreed to move their scheduled September meeting to Sept. 3rd in the Public Works Conference Room due to changes in the City Council schedule. Member Miener requested Staff investigate the possibility of a guest speaker on the future of preservation. Members expressed interest in a press release advertising the open seats on the Commission.
There being no further business, Member Woolsey made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Member Sugai, approved by voice vote the meeting adjourned at 5:57 P.M.
