City of Galesburg Landmark Commission met Feb. 6.

MEMBERS PRESENT: Bob Miener, Suzanne Klohn, Mark Martin, Deb Sugai, and Greta Woolsey, 5.
MEMBERS ABSENT: None.
OTHERS PRESENT: None.
Staff declared a quorum was present.
Approve Minutes of December 5, 2023
Member Woolsey made a motion to approve the minutes, seconded by Member Klohn.
Minutes were approved by voice vote.

LC-24-0101 Consider Certificate of Appropriateness – 60 Public Square
The applicant, Ann Ehler of Central Congregational Church, was present.
The applicant is proposing the restoration and storm glazing on approximately 9 stained glass windows and 7 transoms over various doors.
Chairperson Miener discussed the National Parks Service article he shared with the Commission regarding the protection of stained glass windows and the importance of proper design and application of caulking. He also reached out to the contractor and manufacturer of the caulk. It was recommended that someone inspect the work one year after completion to ensure the caulking is still properly applied and effective.
Ms. Ehler mentioned that Jacksonville Stained Glass is an accredited professional member of The Stained Glass Association of America and follow the Standards and Guidelines for Preservation of Stained and Leaded Glass Windows.
Member Woolsey moved to approve the Certificate of Appropriateness, seconded by member Sugai.

Nays: None.
Abstentions: Klohn, 1.
Chairperson declared the motion approved.
There being no further business, Member Woolsey made a motion to adjourn, seconded by Member Klohn, approved by voice vote the meeting adjourned at 6:14 P.M.
