City of Galesburg Golf Advisory Commission met Oct. 24.

Here are the minutes provided by the commission:

Meeting Called to Order: Meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chairman, David Selkirk

Roll Call:

Present: Rodney Bunch, Stan Devlin, Jerry Reynolds, Paul Sandborg, David Selkirk, Alderman Steve Cheesman

City of Galesburg Absent: Greenkeeper Matt Miles, Golf Professional Bryan Luedtke, Director Parks and Recreation, Elizabeth Varner

Minutes: August 2023 minutes were approved with motions from Paul Sandborg and Rodney Bunch. There was no meeting in September 2023 due to lack of quorum.

Greenskeeper Report:

Superintendent of Parks, Don Miles, reported on maintenance of the golf course. The leveling of the silver and gold tees were discussed. Don explained that the staff is planning some work this fall.

Golf Professional Report:

Don Miles provided the Golf Professional Report for September and October. Stan Develin asked about the member numbers, and what caused the increase over the past few years.

Discussion determined that COVID gave golf a boost in play and rounds, as well as the closing of other golf courses nearby which helped increase Bunker Links additional numbers.

Old Business: Chairperson, David Selkirk, asked about the bride for #15. Don Miles reported that the bid was going out and there was still a possibility of getting the bridge this season. If it does not get in this season, it will be early next spring.

New Business:

There was a short discussion about Centennial ideas for next season. David Selkirk is working on getting advertising in the Galesburg Tourism booklet.
