McDonough County Board Law & Legal Committee met Sept. 11.

The Law & Legal Committee held its monthly meeting on Monday, September 11, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, Courtroom 201. Committee Members present included Committee Chair Joe Erlandson, Vice Chair Ken Durkin, Eric Blakeley, Eric Chapman, Letha Clark, Travis Hiel, Michael Kirby, and Terra Litchfield. Other persons in attendance were Patrick Stout, Aaron Allen, Deborah Cousins, Chief Deputy Adam Cremer, County Chair Scott Schwerer, and Deputy Clerk Stacey Alexander.
Chair Erlandson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Review & Approve August 7, 2023 Minutes
Member Durkin moved with a second by Member Chapman to approve the minutes with correction. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Waste Management Update
Report was received and filed.
Tri-County Recycling
Aaron Allen gave the report.
Veteran’s Assistance and Van Report
Report was received and filed. Six Veterans were given assistance in August. Total assistance amounted to $981.15.
Sheriff’s Report
Chief Deputy Adam Cremer gave the report. The murder trial that was scheduled in September will now be in October.
Assessor’s Office Update
Assessor Deborah Cousins gave the report.
CO2 Pipeline Update
Chair Erlandson gave an update from the attorney.
Claims Review and Approval
Member Blakeley moved with a second by Member Clark to approve the claims as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Other
Chair Erlandson informed the Committee that there will be a hearing regarding the wind farm on September 20th at 5:30 p.m. and it will be held at the Spoon River College Outreach Center.

Public Comment
Steve Hess gave an update on the C02 Pipeline.
County Board Chair Comments
County Chair Schwerer informed the Committee that the County Board meeting will be held at the Spoon River College Outreach Center on September 20th at 7:00p.m. Schwerer asked Member Clark about replacement of the former Director at WIRC, Clark said that he is still working part time and will continue to do so until a replacement is found.

Member Chapman moved with a second by Member Blakeley to adjourn the meeting at 7:42 p.m. Motion carried on a voice vote.
