McDonough County Board Human Resources and Planning Committee met Aug. 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Human Resources and Planning Committee met on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, Courtroom 201. Committee Members in attendance included Chair Letha Clark, Vice Chair Vicky Kipling, Dustin Berg, George Dixon, Michael Kirby, Dave Nissen, Jerry Raby, and Dana Walker. Others in attendance included Animal Control Officer Joe Rossmiller, Patrick Stout, Bonnie Skripps, Karen Blakeley, Larissa Berg, County Chair Scott Schwerer, and Deputy Clerk Emily Flynn.

Chair Letha Clark called the meeting to order at 7:04 p.m.

Review and Approve Minutes from July 13, 2023

Member Walker moved with a second by Member Berg to approve the minutes with a correction. Motion carried on a voice vote.

Animal Control Report

Animal Control Officer, Joe Rossmiller gave the report. There was 21 dogs and 32 cats in the shelter at the end of July.

Humane Society

They raised $26,300.00 in the Nemec challenge.

Policies and Procedures

None.

Cat Registrations

Chair Clark has been collecting information on statutes regarding registering cats. County Treasurer Angie Graves believes this will be a great source for additional revenue but her office wouldn’t be prepared to start this until December 2024 for the year 2025.

Village Reimbursement

In the past villages reimbursed animal control for each trip they made to retrieve animals. A discussion was held to consider reinstating this but charge a flat fee instead of for each trip. A flat fee would make it easier for the Villages to prepare their budget.

GIS Update

No report.

Claims

Member Dixon moved with a second by Member Berg to approve the claims as submitted. Motion carried on voice vote.

Member Berg moved with a second by Member Raby to adjourn the meeting at 7:45 p.m. Motion carried on a voice vote.
