Here are the minutes provided by the board:

CALL TO ORDER 

The ROWVA Board of Education met in their regular meeting in the High School LMC. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Lake at 7:00 pm.

The following members answered roll call at 7:00 pm:

Mr. Johnson (Present ☒ Not Present ☐), Mr. Kuelper (Present ☒ Not Present ☐), Mr. Lake (Present ☒ Not Present ☐), Mr. West (Present ☒ Not Present ☐), Mrs. Fleming (Present ☒ Not Present ☐), Mrs. Godsil (Present ☒ Not Present ☐), and Mrs. Bean (Present ☒ Not Present ☐).

AUDIENCE TO VISITORS

People present were Board members and administrators.

PRINCIPALS’ REPORTS

Mrs. Danner presented the elementary principal’s report. She reviewed: Educational spotlight, professional development and upcoming events/activities.

Mr. Rees presented the jr./sr. high school principal’s report. He reviewed: Summer spotlight, educational spotlight and upcoming sport/activities.

SUPERINTENDENT’S REPORT

Dr. Dunlap presented the superintendent’s report. All items were Agenda items. 

STUDENT AMBASSADORS

Grant Alexander gave the student ambassador’s report.

ACTION ITEMS *Tentative 2023- 2024 Budget

Dr. Dunlap presented the tentative 2023-2024 school year budget.

*Budget Hearing 

Dr. Dunlap recommended that September 19, 2023, at 6:50 p.m. be the day/time set to hold the Budget Hearing. Mr. Kuelper moved and Mrs. Godsil seconded the motion. Motion carried.

*Journey12 

Dr. Dunlap presented information regarding a community engagement support system (Journey12) and recommended that an agreement be entered into for this. No action taken at this time.

CONSENT AGENDA

Mr. Kuelper moved and Mr. Johnson seconded the motion to approve the Consent Agenda for the minutes of July 18, 2023, the Treasurer’s Report, the payment of all bills in Education, Operations and Maintenance, Transportation, IMRF, Working Cash, Fire/Safety and Activity Funds as listed on the official copy, Meeting Minute review and Personnel (Resignation: Dale McKillip – Elementary Custodian, Chris Carpenter – Head Wrestling Coach, and Derrick Pendleton – Assistant Wrestling Coach. Hire: Derrick Pendleton – Head Wrestling Coach and Chris Carpenter – Head JH Wrestling Coach, Dusty Foster* – Bus Driver, Kaydence Smith** – Paraprofessional and Nichole Lytle** - Paraprofessional. *=pending completion of certification. **=pending background checks). Polled vote: Mr. Johnson (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Kuelper (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Lake (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. West (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mrs. Fleming (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mrs. Godsil (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), and Mrs. Bean (Aye ☒ Nay ☐). Motion carried.
