Williamsfield Community Unit School District Board of Education met July 10.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The meeting will be held in the Kutkat Conference Room of the district office in Williamsfield, IL at 7:00pm.

1. Meeting call to order by Board President Goff

2. Pledge of Allegiance

3. Roll Call was taken 

Present: Wrage, Strom, Byrd, Bouchez, Hanson, Smith and Goff 

4. There was an opportunity for public comment. None were fielded.

5. July Financial Report was given by Bouchez.

6. BOE Committee Updates

a. Facilities & Transportation Committee meeting is set for June 25th at 6:00pm. 

b. Jason Danner was added to the Finance committee as the WEA representative

c. The Parent-Teacher Advisory Committee met and finalized the student handbook.

7. Approval of Consent Agenda

All items listed under the consent agenda are considered to be routine by the Board of Education and will be enacted by one motion. There will be no separate discussion of these items unless a board member requests, in which event the item will be removed from the consent agenda and considered individually.

Consent Agenda Items

a. Approval of July bills 

b. Approval of minutes of regular BOE meeting on June 12, 2023

c. Approval of minutes of special BOE meeting on June 29, 2023 

d. Approval to hire Michelle Erickson as full-time certified staff

Goff requested items A and D be removed. Motion by Hanson second by Smith to remove items A and D from the consent agenda. All in favor. Motion carried. Motion by Goff second by Byrd to approve remaining consent agenda items. Wrage - yes, Strom - yes, Byrd - yes, Bouchez - yes, Hanson - yes, Smith - yes, Goff - yes. Motion carried. After discussion, Motion by Byrd, second by Bouchez to approve July bills. Wrage - yes, Strom - yes, Byrd - yes, Bouchez - yes, Hanson - yes, Smith - yes. Motion carried.

8. Discussion took place on the second read of FY24 BOE Policy updates (see here). The decision was made to add the words "and monitors" to policy 2.150. Hanson moves to approve the second read and Byrd seconds. All in favor. Motion carried.

9. Discussion took place on the second read of 2023-2024 Student Handbook. Motion to approve Strom, second by Wrage. All in favor. Motion carried.

10. After discussion, motion by Byrd, second by Smith to add a School Resource Officer with the understanding that discussions regarding adding a counselor will take place at a later date. Wrage - yes, Strom - no, Byrd - yes, Bouchez - yes, Hanson - no, Smith - yes, Goff- yes. Motion carried.

11. The BOE engaged in a discussion regarding spring musical expenses.

12. The monthly Administrative report was given by Mr. Farquer.

13. Motion by Smith, second by Byrd to enter executive session to discuss employment and performance of personnel pursuant 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1). All in favor. Motion carried.

14. Motion by Hanson, second by Strom to leave executive session. All in favor. Motion carried. 

15. Motion by Hanson, second by Strom to hire Jennifer Erickson as full time certified staff.

Wrage - yes, Strom - yes, Byrd - yes, Bouchez - yes, Hanson - yes, Smith - yes, Goff - yes. Motion carried.

Motion by Hanson, second by Strom to approve 2023-2024 Extra-Duty Assignments as presented (see here). Wrage - yes, Strom - yes, Byrd - yes, Bouchez - yes, Hanson - yes, Smith - yes, Goff - yes. Motion carried.

16. Motion by Hanson, second by Strom to adjourn. All in favor. Motion carried.

The next regular BOE meeting is scheduled to be held Monday, August 7, 2013 at 7:00pm in the Kutkat Conference Room of the administrative office.
