Village of Altona Village Board met June 1.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

  • The board meeting was called to order on Thursday, June 1st, by President Derrick Appell.  Board members present:  President: Derrick Appell.  Clerk: Kelly Scott. Trustees: Dale Grawe, Jeremy Williams, Keith Holland, Nick Morris, and Ryan West.  Absent: Treasurer: Mark Compton.  Trustees: Brian DeVito.  Present:  Chad Long – Village Attorney and 1 guest.   
  • Minutes from May 4th, 2023 meeting, was motioned to approve by Dale, with the correction under Streets/Garbage, it should read rumble street sign and not rumble strips.  Keith 2nd the motion.  All Ayes.
  • Payment of bills for June was motioned to approve by Nick, and 2nd by Dale.  Ayes: Dale, Jeremy, Keith, Nick, and Ryan.  Passes: 5-0
  • Financial report was received and if any questions, see Mark, since he was absent from the meeting. 
  • Public Comment: None
Old Business

  • Code Book Revisions & Passage of Any and All Ordinances:
  • Any Property Sales or Purchasing Updates or Actions & Possible Closed Sessions: Received payment for the sale of 619 N Olin St.
  • Solar Update:          
New Business: 

  • Announcements were read by Derrick:
  • Fireworks:  Scheduled for July 8th.  Keith motioned a donation of $3,500.00 and Jeremy 2nd the motion.  Ayes: Jeremy, Keith and Nick. Nays: Dale and Ryan.  Passes: 3-2
  • Temporary Street Closure for AHS Cookout:  The Street in front of the library will be closed off on July 15th from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.  There will be a cookout from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Committee Reports  

  • Water/Sewer: 
  • Standby Generator for Lift Station-Updates and Possible Expenditures:  Generator install is complete. 
  • Streets/Garbage:
  • Various Street Work Projects & Improvement Plan Updates &/or Action:
  • Speed Signs:  Keith motioned to accept the bid from Elan City for 2 Radar Speed Signs in the amount of $6,499.00 with a NTE of $8,500.00 (includes Elan City’s quote and misc., poles, shipping etc.) Ryan 2nd the motion. Ayes: Dale, Jeremy, Keith, Nick and Ryan.  Passes: 5-0
  • Parks/Sidewalks:
  • Various Park projects updates &/or Purchasing of Equipment:
  • Employee Report:
  • Adjournment:  Keith motioned to adjourn at 8:05 p.m. and Nick 2nd the motion.  All Ayes.  The next scheduled meeting will be Thursday, July 6th, 2023.
