McDonough County Board Law & Legal Committee met May 1.

The Law & Legal Committee held its monthly meeting on Monday, May 1, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, Courtroom 201. Committee Members present included Committee Chair Joe Erlandson, Vice Chair Ken Durkin, Eric Blakeley, Eric Chapman, Letha Clark, Travis Hiel, Michael Kirby, and Terra Litchfield. Other persons in attendance were Patrick Stout, Ric Smart, Deborah Cousins, Sheriff Nick Petitgout, County Chair Scott Schwerer, and Deputy Clerk Stacey Alexander.
Chair Erlandson called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
Review & Approve April 3, 2023 Minutes
Member Durkin moved with a second by Member Chapman to approve the minutes with one correction. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Waste Management Update
Report received and filed.
Tri-County Recycling
No report.
Veteran’s Assistance and Van Report
Ric Smart gave the report. Nine Veterans were given assistance in April. Total assistance amounted to $2,112.15.
Sheriff’s Report
Sheriff Nick Petitgout gave the report. Petitgout informed the Committee that the body cams will be up and running by the end of the month.
Assessor’s Office Update
Assessor Deborah Cousins gave the report.
CO2 Pipeline Update
A small discussion was held regarding an update on the C02 Pipeline.
Approve Memorandum of Understanding Between the City of Macomb and McDonough County
County Chair Schwerer informed the Committee that the City of Macomb would like to do a new Census and that the County will have to be the sponsor for it to happen.
Member Chapman moved with a second by Member Clark to approve the Memorandum of Understanding Between the City of Macomb and McDonough County. Motion carried on a voice vote.
Claims Review and Approval
Member Hiel moved with a second by Member Blakeley to approve the claims as submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote.
