Illinois state Sen. Win Stoller (R-Germantown Hills) recently visited the Dixon Family YMCA in Dixon and shared pictures of his trip there via social media.

The senator posted the pictures in a Facebook post this week.

"The Dixon Family YMCA truly does it all," Stoller said in the post. "Gym, after school programs, swim lessons, swim teams, Silver Sneakers workout programs for the elderly. There is even a childcare program they are looking to expand. Good to see this community gem thriving in Dixon."

The Dixon Family YMCA is located at 110 N. Galena in Dixon, its website said. It is open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays. The organization focuses on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. It offers group exercise programs and youth sports programs in all seasons, and it also encourages social responsibility.

This summer the organization is holding a coeducational basketball camp for youths in second through fifth grades, according to a June 21 post on its Facebook page. The camp will be held on Monday, July 31; Wednesday, Aug. 2; and Friday, Aug 4. There will be two sessions per day: 10-11 a.m. will be for second and third graders, and 11 a.m.-noon will be for fourth and fifth graders. The cost is $40 for members and $60 for nonmembers.

“Our basketball camp is a co-ed, 3-day program for 2nd-5th grade children," the Facebook post said. “This camp run will improve your young player’s fundamentals, all under the instruction of YMCA referees."

The Dixon Family YMCA is also holding group swim lessons this summer with registration ending July 16.

“Group Swim Lessons are OPEN for Registration!!" the organization said in a June 20 Facebook post. "Unsure of your child's swim level? Drop in for our swim test! Wednesday, June 28, 2023 3:00pm-5:00pm”

Stoller was first elected to the Illinois state Senate in 2021, his official website biography said. A lifelong resident of the state, he earned both an accounting degree and an MBA from the University of Illinois. His professional background includes 23 years at Widmer Interiors, where he currently holds the position of CEO. He has also worked as an auditor at Price Waterhouse Coopers.
