City of Galesburg Golf Advisory Commission met April 25

Meeting Called to Order: Meeting was called to order at 4:00 p.m. by Chairman, David Selkirk
Roll Call:
Present: Rodney Bunch, Jerry Reynolds, Paul Sandborg, David Selkirk
City of Galesburg:
Alderman - Bradley Hix, Parks Superintendent- Don Miles, Golf Professional -Bryan Luedtke, Greenskeeper-Matt Miles
Absent: Steve Cheesman, Elizabeth Varner (Director of Parks and Recreation) - Both were attending a New City Council Orientation Meeting.
Minutes: March 2023 minutes were approved with motions from Jerry Reynolds and Paul Sandborg.
Greenskeeper Report:
Greenskeeper, Matt Miles, reported on maintenance of the golf course stating that bathrooms were opened for the season. The irrigation system has been brought up to service. Greens were core aeriated on the 18th hole with sand being applied to fill the holes. Fertilizer was spread to assist with the healing of the greens. They have both been rolled several times since then. The new forward tee surface is now in effect on hole seven. Spring fertilizers have been applied to the tees and fairways.
Golf Professional Report:
The Golf Professional Report is attached to the minutes.
Old Business: Bryan Luedtke reported that he had put out information regarding handicaps, with only eight responses. The CDGA would need a minimum of twenty to put the software in the Golf Shop. The golf leagues do not utilize them, so Bryan sees no need for handicaps.
New Business:
Alderman Bradley Hix explained that with Steve Cheesman becoming a City Council member, he will step aside so Steve can become the City Council Liaison for the Golf Commission.
Jerry Reynolds mentioned he may miss a few meetings later this year due to trips he would be taking. Bryan Luedtke mentioned he will be absent from the May meeting.

Upcoming Events: Potential Golf Outing for a Knox College Fundraiser and the Jeppie Memorial Golf Outing, both in May.
