Airport Manager Report:

• Update on Fuel Island Project

o Held meeting with IDOT for project scoping to replace fuel takes with above ground tanks. Jeff Olson with Hanson has done some preliminary work. Have to determine whether current underground utilities need moved or the tank, itself, needs moved. Hopeful for a July bidding, with work to begin this fall.

• Introduction of Mark Rothert (Interim Director of Public Works) made to group.

Old Business:

• Review of Private hangar Project and Lease

o Review of site plan and placement of building. Map was handed out. New facility cannot be put over existing utilities. Alternative locations were discussed and a new ideal site was to move the proposed facility to the west and off of the utilities and extending some connecting pavement (over the utilities) to the new facility.

o Further discussion of steps to take to get the project started (e.g. getting site plan drafted, seeking approval from IDOT, finalizing agreement, and city council approval)

o Motion made by Springer/Christensen to table until the next meeting for further discussion. Motion was approved unanimously.

New Business:

Commission discussed a newly proposed event for the airport, the RC Fly-In Show, on August 12, 2023. This would be a 1-2 day event, drawing 50-100 operators from up to 5 different states. This event would have a positive impact on the local economy and taxes with all the traffic it would bring to the community. IDOT/FAA needs to approve the event. Insurance by the event organizer also needs to be obtained with the City and Jet Air named as additional insured. Questions and comments were discussed about further logistics of the event. A motion was made by Christensen/Springer to support the event, which passed unanimously.

Citizen Comments:

No public comments.

Public Comments:

The Experimental Aircraft Association’s Young Eagles Rally is coming up for kids ages 8-17 to participate in an event on April 1, 2023 starting at 9am.

Adjournment:

The meeting adjourned at 4pm on a motion by Springer/Christensen that passed unanimously.
