Agenda Action Items
Approve York High School Principal
Dr. Campbell stated that an inclusive and thorough principal search was launched to find the next York community high school leader. The multi-step process incorporated community input in multiple ways including survey responses and focus groups. We heard from nearly 500 York parents, guardians, staff, students and community members who provided feedback to assist the administration in creating a profile for what our new York high school principal should include. The District received over 35 applications for the position, 13 were selected for initial screenings. Following those screenings, a total of 5 candidates rose to the top and were identified as finalists to attend an in-person interview panel that included district administration, school leaders throughout the district, and other York staff members. Three candidates were then selected for an extensive third round interview that included parents, students, staff and 2 board members. By the end of the interview process, Jessica Hurt stood out; her experience, personally, and proven track record showed to be a great fit for our school community. She has a strong track record of building systems and cultures that drive student success, along with leaving a lasting positive effect on the entire student community. She brings 20 years of experience as a transformational leader in education. Most recently, Mrs. Hurt was awarded the 2022 Assistant Principal of the Year for the DuPage region of the Illinois Principal Association. Dr. Campbell recommended Jessica Hurt to the Board as the next York HS principal.
President Caforio asked for a motion to approve the recommendation for hire for the position of principal at York High School, as presented.
Mrs. Arvanitis moved and Mrs. Hosler seconded the motion. ROLL CALL VOTE: Mrs. Arvanitis, Mrs. Hosler, Mr. Collins, Mrs. Stuefen, Mr. Kocinski, and Mrs. Caforio voted aye. Motion carried. Mrs. Trautmann was absent.
The Board welcomed Mrs. Hurt, excited and grateful for the experiences she is bringing to York HS.
