Walker's Gem, Chargers' 3 HRs Give Sandburg Softball 1st Win | Carl Sandburg College Athletics

Brooklyn Walker threw a five-hit shutout and the Carl Sandburg College softball team homered three times in Game 1 to give the Chargers their first victory this season as they split a doubleheader at Joliet on Tuesday.

KEY MOMENTS• Emma Wolfe popped a home run to center field in the first inning to open the scoring, and the Chargers added two more runs in the fourth on RBI singles from Kayla Wolfe and Riley Creasey.• Natalie Righi and Maleaha Nagel connected for back-to-back homers with two gone in the fifth as Sandburg pushed its lead to 5-0.

SANDBURG STANDOUTWalker went the distance in the circle, allowing just five hits and three walks in the victory. The sophomore struck out four and allowed just two runners to reach third base. She threw 54 of her 94 pitches for strikes.

KEY MOMENTS• All of the Chargers' scoring came in the second as Riley Creasey's three-run shot plated Chelsey Catton and Reagan Eaves for a 3-1 lead. Sandburg was held off the scoreboard the rest of the contest despite totaling 11 hits.• A double and two walks loaded the bases for the Wolves in the third, and Megan Hrabe followed with a grand slam to put Joliet in front at 5-3.

SANDBURG STANDOUTCreasey finished 2 for 3 with her homer and three RBIs out of the No. 9 spot in the order.
