Weaver: 'Springfield is home to plenty of historic sites, activities, and, of course, the Illinois State Capitol'

Rep. Travis Weaver (R-Pekin) is encouraging his constituents to visit Springfield.

"Springfield is home to plenty of historic sites, activities, and, of course, the Illinois State Capitol," Weaver wrote in a March 21 Facebook post. "There are tons to see and do, and my office would be happy to help you set up your trip. I hope to see you down here soon!"

An informational graphic included in his Facebook post shared a few destinations for visitors to enjoy when planning a trip to Springfield.

Weaver suggests the Illinois State Museum, 502 S. Spring St., free admission; the Abraham Lincoln Presidential Library and Museum, 212 N 6th St., an admission fee or gift certificate is required; the Lincoln Home National Historic Site, 8th Street and Jackson Street, admission is free but tickets are limited.

In another Facebook post, Rep. Weaver announced that his staff would hold office hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays. Chief of Staff, Jorell Glass will be at Weaver’s district office on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to noon. The office is located at 337 Court St., in Pekin. On Thursdays from 8 a.m. to noon, Glass will be at Country Morning Coffee, 205 W 1st Street, in Kewanee. 

Weaver said constituents can feel free to reach out to his office with any questions or concerns by calling 309-270-6149. The office is at 337 Court Street, Pekin.

Weaver is a first-term state representative who grew up in Peoria County but currently resides in Edwards. 

Weaver graduated from Dunlap High School. He went on to receive his BA in Finance and Marketing from The University of Alabama then received his MBA from Northwestern University. Weaver worked in finance and strategy roles at Caterpillar.

Outside of legislation, he dedicates time to tutoring GED students. In addition, he is the chairman of the Education Committee at Wildlife Prairie Park and serves as a substitute teacher.
