The Carl Sandburg College softball team kicked off its 2023 season Wednesday at Spoon River, dropping a pair of contests to the Snappers.

Key MomentSandburg trailed just 2-0 through four innings before the hosts struck for six runs to end the contest early. A pair of two-run home runs highlighted the frame for Spoon River.

Sandburg StandoutBrooklyn Walker collected the Chargers' lone hit, a two-out single in the third.

Key MomentsSpoon River's first six batters of the game each reached base and came around to score. The Snappers used two walks, two doubles, a triple and a homer in the rally.

Sandburg StandoutsEmma Wolfe, Riley Creasey, Kayla Wolf, Maleaha Nagel, Olivia Lewis and Ava Ruggles each singled in the contest for the Chargers.
