United Community Unit School District 304 Board of Education met Jan. 12.

CALL TO ORDER The regular meeting of the United Board of Education was called to order at 6:00 p.m. January 12, 2023. Roll was called and answered by: Joel Johnson, Jill Jenks, Amelia Tierney, Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Dan Toops and Hank Shimmin. Also in attendance were: Maggie Wallace, Chad Robertson, Chris Schwarz, Pat Coate, Kris Repp and several community members.
AGENDA Joel Johnson made a motion to approve the agenda with a second by Jill Jenks. Roll Call : Aye - Joel Johnson, Jill Jenks, Amelia Tierney, Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Dan Toops and Hank Shimmin. Nay - none.
CALENDAR Discussion was held regarding the calendar for the upcoming year.
LIFE SAFETY A resolution to approve a life safety amendment in the amount of $43,000 to include the installation of a node protection/aeration to chlorine contact tank at United West was made by Joel Johnson with a second by Dan Toops. Aye - Joel Johnson, Jill Jenks, Amelia Tierney, Dana Poole, Craig Allaman, Dan Toops and Hank Shimmin. Nay - none.
JR. HIGH FOOTBALL Jr. High football was discussed and it was decided that a spring camp will be held and further decisions will be made from there.
SUPT. REPORT The superintendent talked with the board regarding a purchase of a 6 ft zero turn mower. The facilities priority list was also discussed. With the upcoming school board election there are 6 people running for 4 positions.
CONSENT AGENDA A motion was made by Hank Shimmin with a second by Joel Johnson to approve the consent agenda which included: Approval of the December 8, 2022 minutes; January bills as presented; activity funds reports; treasurer’s report, regretfully accepted the retirement of Vern Goodman, HS Custodian, as of January 13, 2023. Employment of Letta Winebright, North Paraprofessional, Aubrey Thompson Jr High Paraprofessional, Cameo Johnson, West Paraprofessional sub until further notice and Aiden Wells, HS evening custodian. Roll Call: Aye: Craig Allaman, Jill Jenks, Hank Shimmin, Amelia Tierney, Dana Poole, Dan Toops and Joel Johnson. Nay – none.
Adjourn Jill Jenks made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 7:52 p.m. Amelia Tierney seconded the motion. Roll Call: Aye – Jill Jenks, Craig Allaman, Hank Shimmin, Amelia Tierney, Dana Poole, Dan Toops and Joel
