In a Jan. 30 Facebook post, Sen. Jil Tracy (R-Quincy) shared a request for individuals to apply for the Illinois Department on Aging's Senior Housing Residents’ Advisory Council.

“Got some good ideas about improving the quality of life for older residents? The Illinois Department on Aging could use your help as a member of the newly established Senior Housing Residents’ Advisory Council,” Tracy posted.

The Illinois Department of Aging created the Senior Housing Residents' Advisory Council with the signing and passage of Public Act 102-0986, which went into effect on May 27, 2022. The Council is required to submit three reports, and to disband after submitting the third report on Dec. 31, 2025.

The Department on Aging wants to appoint two older adults who reside in affordable housing developments for seniors; one adult family member of an older adult who resides in an assisted living facility; one older adult who lives in southern Illinois; one older adult who lives in western Illinois; and one administrative staff member from an affordable housing development for seniors. Appointments will last through December 2025. To learn more about applying, contact Gloria Simmons at gloria.simmons2@illinois.gov. Prospective appointees are subject to a vetting process at the discretion of the Illinois Department on Aging and the Office of the Governor.

Tracy represents the 50th Senate District. Her legislative career began in 2006, when she joined the Illinois House of Representatives. In her legal career, Tracy was Mount Sterling City Attorney before working as an assistant Illinois attorney general under Attorney Generals Jim Ryan and Lisa Madigan.
