Illinois State Sen. Jil Tracy (R-Quincy) has asked residents of the 50th District to make Valentine's Day cards to lift the spirits of senior citizens this year.

“The Valentines for Seniors Card Drive has brought much joy and many smiles to the residents of local long-term care facilities," Tracy wrote Jan. 20 on Facebook. "Many of those residents have had to be more isolated in recent years because of ongoing public health concerns. Making them beautiful Valentine’s Day cards reminds them how many people truly care about them.”

On her official website, Tracy also shared where people can find more information about the drive. Cards will be accepted now through Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Tracy's office, which is located at 3601 East Lake Centre Drive, Suite 200, in Quincy. Cards may be dropped off between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Cards may also be delivered to Tracy's district office in Jacksonville, 325 West State Street, Suite 102. For more information on participating in the card drive, you can contact Helen Mayfield at hmayfield@adams.net.

Senate Republicans delivered 45,000 cards to people in long-term care facilities in 2022, according to Tracy's website.
