In a recent Facebook post, Illinois State Sen. Jil Tracy commented on the swearing-in of Judge Amy Lannerd as justice of the 4th District Appellate Court.

"Judge Amy Lannerd was sworn in on Dec. 5 as Justice of the 4th District Appellate Court," Tracy said in the post. "Lannerd filled the vacancy created when Justice John W. Turner did not seek retention. State Rep. Randy Frese and I congratulated the new Justice at the Kroc Center in Quincy."

Lannerd expressed gratitude for her opportunity on the appelate bench.

“It is an opportunity of a lifetime,” she told WGEM. “It gives me an opportunity to utilize different skills and an opportunity to review cases.”

Lannerd was previously a partner at Lewis, Longlett & Lannerd LLC in Quincy.

“Judge Lannerd is a bright, hardworking community-minded person who is highly respected by her colleagues and the legal community,” Justice Holder White said in a WGEM report. “She has extensive experience in the law and has handled a multitude of different types of cases since taking the bench in 2016. Undoubtedly, she will be an excellent addition to the Appellate Court.”

Lannerd was first appointed to the bench as an Eighth Circuit judge in 2016 before winning the election in 2018, Illinois Supreme Court records show.

The 4th District Appellate Court is made up of 41 western and central Illinois counties: Adams, Boone, Brown, Calhoun, Carroll, Cass, Ford, Fulton, Greene, Hancock, Henderson, Henry, Jersey, Jo Daviess, Knox, Lee, Livingston, Logan, Macoupin, Marshall, Mason, McDonough, McLean, Menard, Mercer, Morgan, Ogle, Peoria, Pike, Putnam, Rock Island, Sangamon, Schuyler, Scott, Stark, Stephenson, Tazewell, Warren, Whiteside, Winnebago and Woodford.
