Stevens Finishes 2nd at Fighting Scot Invite

The Monmouth College golf teams hosted the Fighting Scots Fall Invite at Gibson Woods this weekend. The event consisted of two rounds, one Saturday and one Sunday with rain impacting both days.

The Monmouth women didn't record a team score, but Amanda Stevens (Mason City, Illinois) finished second overall with a score of 176. She shot a 91 on Saturday and an 85 on Sunday and finished one shot ahead of Carl Sandburg's Ellie Wasson.

Sarah Saddoris (Port Byron, Illinois)) finished tied for eighth with a 94-96-190 and Annalyn Lovell (Oneida, Illinois) finished 16th with a 115-108-223.

The men finished fifth as a team. Ryan Prusak (Oswego, Illinois) had the best showing for the Scots with a tie for 10th place. He shot a 73 on Sunday, the second-best round of the day. He had an 81 on Saturday to finish with a 154.

Briggs Bossert (Evanston, Illinois) had a 160 to tie for 19th. He posted a 78 on Saturday and an 82 on Sunday. Noah Shields (Rantoul, Illinois) had an 85-79-164 for 24th place while DJ Reading (Monmouth, Illinois) shot 87 on both days for a 174. Grant Foster (Galesburg, Illinois) shot 96-88-184.

Three Scots played as individuals. Thomas Henson (Geneseo, Illinois) shot 102-89-191 and Nick Maresco (Highland Park, Illinois) shot 111-99-210. Elijah Danner (Bushnell, Illinois) shot a 128 on Saturday and did not play on Sunday.

Both the men and women are next in action Sept. 25-26 at the Midwest Region Classic in Kanasville, Wisconsin,  hosted by Benedictine University.
