The Monmouth College women's soccer team lost a road game Wednesday night to the University of Dubuque, 4-0. The Scots are now 1-2 on the season and they will play at Augustana on Sunday.
Dubuque scored just 2:10 into the contest and the game stayed 1-0 for the next half hour. But the Spartans broke the game open with two goals in a two-minute span to take a 3-0 lead into halftime.
The final goal of the game came for the Spartans in the 64th minute. Dubuque outshot Monmouth 35-3 with shots on goal at 19-3. Dubuque also had eight corner kicks in the contest.
Sophomore goalkeeper Lea Selquist (Peru, Illinois) made a career-high 15 saves in the loss. Her previous high was nine, both in a game last October and last weekend against Webster. Lizzy Gould (Cambridge, Wisconsin), Elizabeth Schmidt (Waverly, Iowa) and Kaylee Doebert (Mount Horeb, Wisconsin) had Monmouth's shots on goal.
The Scots next play at 2 p.m. Sunday at Augustana. The next home game is on Wednesday, Sept, 14 at 4:30 p.m. against Central College.
