ROWVA Community Unit School District 208 Board of Education met Aug. 15.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The ROWVA Board of Education met in their regular meeting in the High School LMC. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Lake at 7:00 pm.

The following members answered roll call at 7:01 pm:

Mrs. Bean moved and Mrs. Godsil seconded the motion to approve the Consent Agenda for the minutes of July 18, 2022 and July26, 2022, the Treasurer’s Report, and the payment of all bills in Education, Operations and Maintenance, Transportation, IMRF, Working Cash, Fire/Safety and Activity Funds as listed on the official copy. Polled vote: Mr. Johnson (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Kuelper (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Lake (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. West (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mrs. Fleming (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mrs. Godsil (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), and Mrs. Bean (Aye ☒ Nay ☐). Motion carried.

People present were Board members, administrators, and many visitors.

Mrs. Danner presented the elementary principal’s report. She reviewed: Summer goals, educational spotlight and upcoming events/activities.

Mr. Rees presented the jr./sr. high school principal’s report. He reviewed: Summer projects, education spotlight, upcoming sports/activities and meet the cougars/community night.

Dr. Dunlap presented the superintendent’s report. All items were Agenda items.

Dr. Dunlap presented a revised Board meeting schedule to move the monthly meetings from the third Monday to the third Tuesday of each month and recommended that it be accepted as presented. Mr. West moved and Mrs. Bean seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap presented the tentative FY23 Budget for review.

Dr. Dunlap recommended that September 20, 2022 at 6:50 pm be the date for the Budget Hearing. Mrs. Fleming moved and Mrs. Bean seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap presented a Building Use Fee Schedule and recommended that it be accepted. Mr. Johnson moved and Mrs. Godsil seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap presented the PRESS Policies for the second reading and recommended that they be approved as presented. Mr. Johnson moved and Mrs. Fleming seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Mrs. Godsil moved and Mrs. Bean seconded the motion to move into closed session to discuss personnel and collective bargaining. Polled vote: Mr. Johnson (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Kuelper (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Lake (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. West (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mrs. Fleming (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mrs. Godsil (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), and Mrs. Bean (Aye ☒ Nay ☐). Motion carried.

Mr. West moved and Mrs. Godsil seconded the motion to return to open session to discuss personnel and collective bargaining. Polled vote: Mr. Johnson (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Kuelper (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Lake (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. West (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mrs. Fleming (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mrs. Godsil (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), and Mrs. Bean (Aye ☒ Nay ☐). Motion carried at 9:14 p.m.

Dr. Dunlap recommended that the resignations from Barb Rowe (Elementary Aide), Nicci Dillon (Bus Driver) and Mike Hagedorn (Ind Arts/Bldg Trades/Auto Teacher) be accepted. Mrs. Bean moved and Mrs. Godsil seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended hiring Jen Lee as a Full-Time District Substitute for the 2022-2023 school year. Mrs. Bean moved and Mrs. Godsil seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended hiring Cody Baysinger as JH Custodian. Mrs. Bean moved and Mrs. Fleming seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended hiring Lindsey Campbell as Elementary (3rd/4th Grade) Aide. Mrs. Godsil moved and Mr. Johnson seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap requested that the Superintendent Goals for the 2022-2023 school year be approved. Mrs. Bean moved and Mrs. Fleming seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended that the Collective Bargaining Agreement with the ROWVA SEA be adopted. Mr. West moved and Mr. Johnson seconded the motion. Polled vote: Mr. Johnson (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Kuelper (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Lake (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. West (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mrs. Fleming (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mrs. Godsil (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), and Mrs. Bean (Aye ☒ Nay ☐). Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap presented a MoA with the ROWVA REA and recommended that it be accepted. Select Member moved and Select Member seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended that the stiped for Mr. Ben Rees (HS Principal) be approved. Select Member moved and Select Member seconded the motion.
