ROWVA Community Unit School District 208 Board of Education met July 18.

The ROWVA Board of Education met in their regular meeting in the High School LMC. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Lake at 7:00 pm.

Mr. West moved and Mrs. Fleming seconded the motion to approve the Consent Agenda for the minutes of June 20, 2022, the Treasurer’s Report, and the payment of all bills in Education, Operations and Maintenance, Transportation, IMRF, Working Cash, Fire/Safety and Activity Funds as listed on the official copy. Polled vote: Mr. Johnson (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Kuelper (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Lake (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. West (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mrs. Fleming (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mrs. Godsil (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), and Mrs. Bean (Aye ☒ Nay ☐). Motion carried.

People present were Board members, administrators, a few students and community members.

Mrs. Danner presented the elementary principal’s report. She reviewed: 2022 Summer goals, educational spotlight and upcoming events/activities.

Mr. Rees presented the jr./sr. high school principal’s report. He reviewed: Summer projects, education spotlight, sports, and upcoming events/activities.

Dr. Dunlap presented the superintendent’s report. All items were Agenda items.

Dr. Dunlap recommended accepting the bid from Laverdiere Construction (with alternate #1) for the Siding and Window project. Mr. Kuelper moved and Mrs. Bean seconded the motion. Polled vote: Mr. Johnson (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Kuelper (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Lake (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. West (Aye ☐ Nay ☒), Mrs. Fleming (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mrs. Godsil (Aye ☐ Nay ☒), and Mrs. Bean (Aye ☒ Nay ☐). Motion carried 5-2.

Dr. Dunlap requested approval to begin the budgeting process for the 2022-2023 school year. Mrs. Fleming moved and Mrs. Godsil seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended that the Closed Meeting Minutes from June 2021 to May 2022 be opened and the Closed Session Recording from November 2019 to December 2020 be destroyed. Mr. West moved and Mr. Johnson seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap presented the PRESS Policies for the first reading. The Board discussed the options for policies 2:230, 5:80, and 7:285.

Mr. Kuelper moved and Mr. West seconded the motion to move into closed session to discuss personnel and collective bargaining. Polled vote: Mr. Johnson (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Kuelper (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Lake (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. West (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mrs. Fleming (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mrs. Godsil (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), and Mrs. Bean (Aye ☒ Nay ☐). Motion carried.

Mrs. Fleming moved and Mrs. Godsil seconded the motion to return to open session to discuss personnel and collective bargaining. Polled vote: Mr. Johnson (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Kuelper (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Lake (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. West (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mrs. Fleming (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mrs. Godsil (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), and Mrs. Bean (Aye ☒ Nay ☐). Motion carried at 8:55 p.m.

Dr. Dunlap recommended that the resignation of Brooklyn Deming (HS English) be accepted. Mr. West moved and Mrs. Bean seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended hiring Laura Snyder (contingent) as the HS Biology Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. Mrs. Godsil moved and Mrs. Fleming seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended hiring Lexi Staples (long-term sub) as the HS Chemistry Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. Mrs. Bean moved and Mrs. Godsil seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended hiring Mary Ann McNeil as an Elementary / JH Aide for the 2022-2023 school year. Mr. Kuelper moved and Mrs. Fleming seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended hiring Melanie Bloss as an Elementary 1-on-1 Aide for the 2022-2023 school year. Mr. Kuelper moved and Mrs. Fleming seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended hiring Barb Rowe as an Elementary Aide for the 2022-2023 school year. Mr. West moved and Mrs. Godsil seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended hiring Judy Post as the HS Art Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. Mr. Kuelper moved and Mrs. Godsil seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended hiring Tina Hufford as the HS FCS Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. Mr. West moved and Mr. Kuelper seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended hiring Eric Galbreath as the HS Evening Custodian. Mrs. Fleming moved and Mrs. Godsil seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended hiring Stacy Nagal as the Elementary Counselor for the 2022-2023 school year. Mr. Kuelper moved and Mr. West seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended hiring Kristi Williams as a 3rd Grade Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. Mr. Kuelper moved and Mrs. Godsil seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended hiring Mindy Armentrout as a 5th Grade Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. Mr. Kuelper moved and Mrs. Godsil seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended hiring Amanda Aberle as a HS Math Teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. Mrs. Fleming moved and Mrs. Godsil seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended hiring Grant Gullstrand for Summer Field Maintenance/Upkeep. Mrs. Fleming moved and Mrs. Godsil seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended hiring Riley Danner for Summer Mowing. Mrs. Godsil moved and Mr. Kuelper seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap recommended hiring Lynn Gordon and Steve Henson as Bus Drivers for the 2022-2023 school year. Mrs. Bean moved and Mr. Kuelper seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Dr. Dunlap requested approval to post Two (2) Full-Time District Substitute positions. Mr. West moved and Mrs. Godsil seconded the motion. Motion carried.

Mr. West moved and Mrs. Bean seconded the motion to adjourn at 9:05 p.m. Motion carried.
