Village of Altona Village Board met May 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The board meeting was called to order by President Derrick Appell. Board members present: President: Derrick Appell. Clerk: Kelly Scott. Trustees: Dale Grawe, Shirley Kistler, Keith Holland, Nick Morris, Brian DeVito and Ryan West. Absent: Treasurer: Mark Compton. Present: Chad Long, Village Attorney, and 1 guest. 

Minutes from April 7th, 2022 meeting, was motioned to approve by Shirley and Dale 2nd the motion. All Ayes. 

Additions or Deletions to the Agenda: Addition to New Business – Donation to the Altona Baseball Assoc. 

Payment of bills for May was motioned to approve by Keith and 2nd by Shirley. Ayes: Dale, Shirley, Keith, Nick, Brian and Ryan. Passes: 6-0

Financial report was received and if any questions, see Mark, since he was absent from the meeting. There were no  interfund transfers. 

Public Comment: Rich Wegner asked the Garbage Committee if any grants for recycling have been applied for that is offered by the State. The response was that it has been looked into but nothing has been applied for. Also, Mark Luft, currently an Illinois State Representative for the 93rd District was here to introduced himself, he is running for a second term. 

Old Business 

Code Book Revisions & Passage of any Ordinance: Still working on getting Mark Johnson served with letter.

Forcing Property Sales Update & Any Possible Closed Sessions: 

Standby Generator for Maintenance Building – Update: Supposed to be delivered tomorrow (May 6th). Also, there will be remotes for the doors on the Maintenance Building.

New Business: 

Announcements were read by Derrick: 

Fireworks Donation: Keith motioned for the donation of $3,500.00 to go towards the June 25th fireworks display. Shirley 2nd the motion. Ayes: Shirley, Keith, Nick and Brian. Nays: Dale and Ryan. Passes: 4-2 

Altona Baseball Association Donation: Shirley motioned the donation of $200.00 and 2nd by Nick. Ayes: Dale, Shirley, Keith, Nick, Brian and Ryan. Passes: 6-0

Committee Reports 

Water/Sewer: 

Stand by Generator for Lift Station-Updates and Possible Expenditures: Paperwork has been received. Gas line should be ran soon. 

Streets/Garbage: 

Various Street Work Projects & Improvement Plan Updates &/or Action: Waiting for some feedback from Kevan Cooper in regards to the Electronic Speed Monitoring.

Parking Stripes- Update: Nothing to update at this time. 

Closed Session – Property: Dale motioned to go into closed session at 8:13 p.m. to discuss N. Olin project and Brian 2nd the motion. All Ayes. 

Back into Open Session at 8:53 p.m. 

Parks/Sidewalks: 

Various Park projects updates &/or Purchasing of Equipment :

Light Poles (update): Still waiting for quotes. 

Baseball Fence Topper: This has been installed by Scott Erickson, will send out a Thank You for his donation. 

Employee Report: 

Adjournment: Keith motioned to adjourn at 8:53 p.m. and Shirley 2nd the motion. All Ayes. The next scheduled meeting will be Thursday, June 2nd, 2022
