In a June 15 Facebook post, Sen. Win Stoller (R-Peoria) urged constituents to check on elderly friends and neighbors during the heat advisory.
"We're under a heat advisory ... Please check on elderly neighbors and friends, and stay hydrated," Stoller posted on Facebook.
He posted a chart detailing the symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke, and several links to find places to keep cool. Including the state government, CIProud.com, and the Illinois Department of Human Services.
Heat advisories went into effect for much of Illinois on June 13.
On Saturday, The National Weather Service issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook notice. "The heat is expected to return early next week with highs in the 90s Monday and Tuesday. Heat indices around the 100 degree mark are possible on Tuesday."
On its web page, The Centers for Disease Control spells out symptoms of heat-related illnesses and what to do if someone suspects they are suffering from any of these issues.
