CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the United Board of Education was called to order at 5:00 p.m. Roll was called and answered by: Dana Poole, Joel Johnson, Jill Jenks, Craig Allaman, Dan Toops, Amelia Tierney and Hank Shimmin.
CLOSED SESSION
Joel Johnson made a motion to enter into closed session at 5:01 p.m. with intent to return to open. Jill Jenks seconded the motion Roll was called and answered by: Dana Poole, Joel Johnson, Jill Jenks, Craig Allaman, Dan Toops, Amelia Tierney and Hank Shimmin.

AGENDA
Hank Shimmin made a motion to approve the agenda with a second by Amelia Tierney. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Jill Jenks, Joel Johnson, Craig Allaman, Dan Toops, Amelia Tierney and Hank Shimmin. Nay – none.
CONTRACT Hank Shimmin made a motion to approve a resolution to approve the collective bargaining agreement with the United Education Association through the 2025-2026 school year as presented. Danny Toops seconded the motion. Roll Call: Aye - Hank Shimmin, Danny Toops, Joel Johnson, Amelia Tierney, Jill Jenks, Craig Allaman and Dana Poole. Nay - none.
POLICY
The resolution to approve Section 4 of the board policy was tabled.
HANDBOOK
A motion to approve handbook changes for United Elementary schools for the 2022-23 school year was made by Danny Toops with a second by Hank Shimmin. Roll Call: Aye - Hank Shimmin, Danny Toops, Joel Johnson, Amelia Tierney, Jill Jenks, Craig Allaman and Dana Poole. Nay - none.
IHSA
A motion was made by Hank Shimmin to approve renewal of membership in the Illinois High School Association for the 22-23 school year. Amelia Tierney seconded the motion. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Jill Jenks, Joel Johnson, Dan Toops, Amelia Tierney and Hank Shimmin. Nay – Craig Allaman. Motion carried
CONSENT AGENDA
A motion was made by Joel Johnson with a second by Dan Toops to approve the consent agenda which included: Approval of the March 12, 2022 minutes; April bills as presented; activity funds reports; treasurer’s report, regretful accept the resignation of Stephanie Allaman, Ag teacher at UJHS/UHS at the end of 2021-22 school year. Regretfully accept the resignation of Tiffany Helms, West elementary paraprofessional effective 4/8/2022. Employment of Jerry Kinney North day custodian/maintenance beginning May 2, 2022. Employment of Brynn Bergren as North elementary for the 2022-23 school year and Courtney Young as Varsity volleyball coach at UHS for the 2022-23 school year. SUPERINTENDENT REPORT
Superintendent Whitsitt reported on the recent rebid of HVAC phase 2 at the high school. Bids came in higher than expected again, therefore action on this process should be delayed. Asked that the board set the June board meeting as a budget hearing date. Discussed the fact that our architect of record, Phillips and Associates has been bought by another architecture/engineering firm (Graham and Hyde). Announced that 57 students are on the initial invitation list to the district’s summer school program. The district will be receiving an additional $3,122.81 in Evidence Based Funding due to a clerical error in the Chicago Public School allotment.
