Call to Order/Roll Call
The Community Unit School District #205 Board of Education met for a special meeting at 6:00 PM at 932 Harrison St., Galesburg, IL. The roll was read and the following Members responded: Bess-Tabb, Boettcher, Cervantez, Phelps, Rodriguez, Scherpe, Lyon (7) Roll Call #1
Closed Session
It was moved by Member Rodriguez and seconded by Member Boettcher to move to closed session for the purpose of a student disciplinary hearing. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Bess-Tabb, Boettcher, Phelps, Rodriguez, Scherpe, Cervantez, Lyon (7) Motion carried. Roll Call #2
Member Bess-Tabb exited the meeting.
Following closed session, it was moved by Member Lyon and seconded by Member Cervantez to move to open session. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Phelps, Rodriguez, Scherpe, Boettcher, Cervantez, Lyon (6) Motion carried. Roll Call #3
Member Bess-Tabb re-entered the meeting.
Action:
It was moved by Member Rodriguez and seconded by Member Cervantez that student 271661, be found to have violated school rules in a manor which was gross disobedience and misconduct by punching another student repeatedly in the head. However, the administration’s decision to suspend out of school, did not sufficiently address the students’ needs and therefore the suspension shall be expunged from the students record. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Rodriguez, Boettcher, Cervantez, Lyon (4) NAY: Scherpe, Phelps (2) ABSTAIN: Bess-Tabb (1) Motion carried. Roll Call #4
Adjournment
It was moved by Member Cervantez and seconded by Member Rodriguez that the meeting be adjourned—8:01PM. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Phelps, Rodriguez, Scherpe, Bess-Tabb, Boettcher, Cervantez Lyon (7) Motion carried. Roll Call #5
