State Sen. Win Stoller (R-Germantown Hills) taught students about how state government works in an effort to get teenagers interested in the legislative process during a recent trip to Geneseo High School.
Stoller shared details about his visit in an April 27 Facebook post.
"I had the opportunity last week to speak with a panel of Geneseo High School students about state government and the legislative process," Stoller wrote in the post. "It is always great to see our next generation interested and engaged. I was impressed by the insightful questions that they posed during our meeting."
Stoller has been vocal about several things he feels are wrong with Illinois' government in recent months. His dissatisfaction included the decision to pay down part of the unemployment insurance fund deficit, but not the whole thing, Rock Island today reported.
In March, Stoller reacted to former House Speaker Michael Madigan's indictment. According to the Prairie State Wire, Stoller said Madigan's "shady and questionable ways still pollute our state government." He also added it's the elected leader's duty to help weed out the corruption.
At the beginning of the year, he spoke out about the benefits of his state and local tax deduction legislation. Stoller said the bill would help small businesses by having business owners file taxes on the business return so there isn't a $10,000 cap on the state and local tax deduction.
