The Prairie Fire swimming and diving teams competed at Monmouth on Saturday afternoon.
Prior to the start of the meet Monmouth and Knox honored both teams seniors, a tradition started by Monmouth's late coach Tom Burek and now continued by coaches Jake Dacus and Erin Lafary. Knox's lone senior is Sarah Ruttencutter, an International Relations major from St. Louis who joined the team this fall.
"Sarah has been a great addition to the team," said head coach Jonathan Powers. "Her spirit and leadership have been a real asset and I wish I had her on the team for all four years."
Alyssa Stringer earned a first (100 Fly) and a second (100 Free).
Rachel Schonfeld placed second in the 100 Back and third in the 100 Fly.
Kiely Thompson picked up two thirds (200 Free and 100 Breast).
Sarah Ruttencutter had a 3rd in the 50 free.
Joe Pederson earned a second place finish in the 200 Free and a third place finish in the 100 back.
Eita Ueda placed third in the 50 free 100 free.
"We had some good swims and some things we need to improve on as we get ready for conference," concluded Powers.
The Prairie Fire return to action at Beloit on February 5 in their final tuneup before the Midwest Conference Championships February 18-20.
