State Rep. Dan Swanson has issued the following press release:

It is my honor to write a letter of endorsement for my friend, Knox County Sheriff Deputy Jack C. Harlan as candidate for Knox County Sheriff. He serves in his current position with distinction and a dedicated public servant. Jack has the values and experience needed to protect us from the radical left’s pursuit to defund the police and restrict our constitutional rights.

Deputy Harlan served our nation as a soldier in the United States Army, retiring as a First Sergeant/E8. He is a decorated Iraq and Afghanistan war veteran receiving the Purple Heart and twice earned the Bronze Star. His military education includes many advance leadership courses for Senior Non-Commissioned Officers and outstanding performance in extremely challenging duty assignments.  His military experience prepared him to manage people and time in extremely stressful conditions.  Deputy Harlan’s military service brought home stark life lessons to make him a better leader here in our community.

Deputy Harlan’s work performance is impressive as demonstrated by his many awards, and his work in providing safer roads as evidenced in his DUI enforcement. While serving as East Galesburg Chief of Police, the East Galesburg Mayor recognized Jack for saving a resident’s life. His continuing education and law enforcement certification courses, provides a great foundation in public safety and community service. Currently, Jack serves as a detective with the Sheriff’s Department and a member of an FBI Task Force. His willingness to continue service to his community and county is admirable.

So, when you see Jack on the campaign trail at different community events, please, offer to help   his campaign with a yard sign, door knocking or financial support. You will not regret your decision. Deputy Harlan will represent us with honor and courage. Just as he did for 20 years in the United States Army.

Sincerely,

Daniel M. Swanson
