McDonough County Budget Finance Committee met Sept. 8.

Here are the minutes provided by the committee:

The Budget Finance Committee meeting was held at 3:00 p.m. The meeting was held at the McDonough County Courthouse, Law Library. Committee members present were Chair Travis Hiel, Letha Clark, Dave Cortelyou, Joe Erlandson, and Dave Nissen. Others in attendance included County Chair Scott Schwerer, and County Clerk Gretchen DeJaynes, Deckle McLean, Stacey Alexander, Kerri Allen, Rick Walker, Laura Whitney, Patrick Stout, and State’s Attorney Matt Kwakala.

Chair Hiel called the meeting to order at 3:00 p.m.

New Business

Kerri Allen- Health Department

Kerri Allen explained her Budget. The Health Department is proposing an 2% salary increase.

Rick Walker- Highway Department

Engineer Walker went over their budget. He has proposed a 3%salary increase for Cadwalader and Hance. And a larger increase for the secretary.

Tim Bledsoe- The Elms

Tim Bledsoe was not in attendance due to COVID

Letha Clark- Animal Shelter

Letha Clark explained the Animal Shelter budget. They are proposing a 3% increase for Kelsey Havens and a 2% increase for Zach Welch. Letha also explained the part-time people’s hourly wage will need to be increased to keep up with minimum wage.

Matt Kwacala- State’s Attorney

State’s Attorney Kwacala asked for a 2% Salary increase for his staff.

Tim Lobdell

Tim Lobdell was not in attendance.

Various Budget Requests

Discuss ARPA Fund Action

A lengthy discussion was held on the uses of the ARPA funds, and how to prioritize the projects.

Adjourn

Member Cortelyou moved with a second by Member Nissen to adjourn the meeting at 5:39 p.m. Motion carried on a voice vote.
