Mercer County School District #404 Board of Education met Oct. 5.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Mercer County School District #404, Mercer, Henderson, & Rock Island Counties, Illinois, convened at a Special Meeting at Mercer County Intermediate School, 1002 SW 6th Street, Aledo, IL 61231, at 5:00 P.M.

Prior to Roll Call, President Mike Bowns led the group with the pledge of allegiance.

ATTENDANCE

Members Present: Balmer, Bieri, Bowns, Monson, & Wagner

Absent: Smock & Yates

Also present: Supt. Petrie, Principals Day & Sedam

Also in Attendance: Matt Longenecker (Phillips & Associates Architects), Keith Chandler, Erika Haney, & Reporter Jim Taylor.

MCIS CLASSROOM ADDITION BID 1. There was a motion by Bieri, seconded by Monson, to accept the MCIS Classroom Addition Bid from Bill Bruce Builders, Inc at the total project amount of $1,603,000 as presented.

Roll Call: 4 Ayes, 1 Nay. Motion carried.

ADJOURN 2. There was a motion by Balmer, seconded by Bieri, to adjourn at 5:10pm. Majority of Ayes by Voice Vote. Motion carried.

OTHER REPORTS AND DISCUSSIONS:

1. Matt Longenecker addressed the board with information regarding the bids received for the classroom addition at MCIS. On September 30th, five bids were received for the project. The low bid is from Bill Bruce Builders, Inc. Phillips and Associates Architects checked references and received good feedback. They recommended that the board accept the low base bid and alternate #1 for $43,000 to install the new concrete maintenance drive for a total project amount of $1,603,000. The estimate for this project was $2.2 million.
