FAC-21-0901 Consider Downtown Façade Redevelopment Grant – 109-123 S Cherry St The building is in need of masonry repairs/tuckpointing
The owner anticipates beginning in October, estimated completion by November 30, 2021.
The owner stated the reason for the work began when two dentils fell from the building onto the public sidewalk on the Simmons Street side after a heavy rain. A contractor was called and after visual inspection it was determined repairs in a number of areas were necessary.
The estimated total façade project cost is $119,315 and they are eligible to request up to 50% or a maximum of $80,000 of the project costs through the façade grant program. This project is located INSIDE of the Special Service Area, so any incentive provided will be 50% from the City (through the Tax Increment Financing District IV fund) and 50% from the Galesburg Downtown Council. For example, if a façade grant of $59,657.50 is approved then $29,828.75 would come from the city and $29,828.75 would come from the Galesburg Downtown Council.
Member Holloway made a motion to recommend approval of the façade grant, seconded by Member Martin.
