Call to Order/Roll Call

The Community Unit School District #205 Board of Education met in a closed session prior to the special meeting at 5:00PM at the Lincoln Education Center, 932 Harrison Street, Galesburg, IL. The meeting was called to order by President Cervantez. The roll was read and the following Members responded: Cervantez, Hunigan, Lyon, Phelps, Rodriguez, Scherpe, Walters (7) Roll Call #1

Closed Session

It was moved by Member Lyon and seconded by Member Walters to move to closed session. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Cervantez, Hunigan, Lyon, Phelps, Rodriguez, Scherpe, Walters (7) Motion carried. Roll Call #2

Following closed session, it was moved by Member Lyon and seconded by Member Walters to move to open session. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Hunigan, Lyon, Phelps, Rodriguez, Scherpe, Walters, Cervantez (7) Motion carried. Roll Call #3

Consider Approval of Multi-Year Agreement between Galesburg CUSD No. 205 and Galesburg Education Association Pending Ratification

It was moved by Member Lyon and seconded by Member Scherpe to approve as presented. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Phelps, Rodriguez, Scherpe, Walters, Cervantez, Hunigan, Lyon (7) Motion carried. Roll Call #4

Consider Approval of Purchase of Property

It was moved by Member Walters that the District exercise the right of first refusal included in the lease agreement with Northwoods Church, and purchase the property for $1.3 million, and that the Superintendent be authorized and directed to notify the church, Member Lyon seconded the motion. Dr. Asplund stated that the Galesburg Northwoods Church has separated from the Peoria branch and the District has first right of refusal to purchase the building. The Board discussed the reasons for moving forward with the purchase. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Rodriguez, Scherpe, Walters, Cervantez, Hunigan, Lyon, Phelps (7) Motion carried. Consider Approval of Change Order Request

It was moved by Member Walters and seconded by Member Rodriguez to approve the change order as presented. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Scherpe, Walters, Cervantez, Hunigan, Lyon, Phelps, Rodriguez (7) Motion carried. Roll Call #6

Adjourn Sine Die

It was moved by Member Phelps and seconded by Member Walters to adjourn sine die. On voice vote all were in favor. (7) Motion carried. Roll Call #7

Call to Order

Dr. Asplund, Superintendent, Presiding as President Pro Tem recognized the newly elected members in the April 6, 2021 Consolidated Election:

Oath of Office for Newly Elected Board of Education Members

Dr. Asplund gave the Oath of office to the members and all recited together and the new Board took their seats following the outgoing Board comments by Member Walters and Member Hunigan.

Election of Board of Education Officers

Member Lyon nominated Member Scherpe to the role of President. Member Scherpe accepted and took his seat. Member Lyon nominated Member Rodriguez to the role of Vice President. Member Rodriguez accepted. Member Phelps nominated Member Lyon to the role of Secretary. Member Lyon accepted.

Consider Approval of the Consent Agenda

It was moved by Member Phelps and seconded by member Cervantez to approve the consent agenda as presented. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Lyon, Phelps, Rodriguez, Scherpe, Boettcher, Bess-Tabb (7) Motion carried. Roll Call #8

Consider Approval of Job Description(s)

It was moved by Member Cervantez and seconded by Member Rodriguez to approve the job descriptions as presented. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Phelps, Rodriguez, Scherpe, Boettcher, Cervantez, Bess-Tabb, Lyon (7) Motion carried. Roll Call #9

Consider Approval of the Personnel Agenda

It was moved by Member Lyon and seconded by Member Rodriguez to approve as presented. On roll call the following Members voted AYE: Rodriguez, Scherpe, Boettcher, Cervantez, Bess Tabb, Lyon, Phelps (7) Motion carried. Roll Call #10

Adjournment

It was moved by Member Phelps and seconded by Member Rodriguez that the special meeting be adjourned—7:11PM. On voice vote the following Members voted AYE: Lyon, Cervantez, Phelps, Scherpe, Rodriguez, Boettcher, Bess-Tabb (7) Motion carried. Roll Call #11
