Knoxville Community Unit School District #202 Board of Education Met May 3.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Board of Education of Community Unit School District #202, Knox County, met in an organizational meeting duly called and held at 6:18 p.m. at 809 East Main Street, Knoxville, Illinois, which is within the boundaries of said District. The Superintendent called the meeting to order and directed that the Pledge of Allegiance be recited. After the Pledge, the Superintendent gave Mrs. Young and Mr. Scalf the Oath of Office. After the Oath of Office, the Superintendent ordered the roll to be called. Upon roll being called, the following members were found to be present:

Mr. Johnson, Mrs. McCracken, Mrs. Myers, Mr. Scalf, Mr. Stearns and Mrs. Young

And the following absent:

4. Also present were: Joe F. Burgess Jr., Jenn Walter, Geoff Schoonover, Kelli Nelson

5. It was moved by Member McCracken and seconded by Member Stearns to appoint Pro-Tem President by voice vote. Mr. Johnson was nominated and appointed.

6. It was moved by Member McCracken to nominate Member Johnson for Board President. It was moved by Member Young to nominate Member Stearns for Board President. Member Johnson was elected as Board President by voice vote.

7. It was moved by Member Scalf and seconded by Member Young to nominate Member Stearns for Vice President. Member Stearns was elected as Vice President by voice vote.

8. It was moved by Member Myers and seconded by Member Scalf to nominate Member McCracken as Board Secretary. Member McCracken was elected as Board President by voice vote.

9. Announcement of Board Vacancy - Mr. Johnson announced the vacancy of one seat on the board. The board discussed holding interviews on May 13th at the District Office. Interested candidates are encouraged to drop off letters of interest to the District Office by 5 p.m. on Monday May 10th. All candidates will be interviewed by the board. The chosen candidate will be approved and seated at the regular meeting on May 17th.

10. It was moved by Member McCracken and seconded by Member Stearns to set the dates, times and location for Regular board meetings as follows:

August 16, 2021

September 20, 2021

October 18, 2021

November 15, 2021

December 20, 2021

January 18, 2022 (A day later due to Martin Luther King Day)

February 21, 2022 (A day later due to President’s Day)

March 21, 2022

April 19, 2022 (A day later due to Easter Monday)

May 16, 2022

June 20, 2022

President Johnson called for a voice vote and declared the motion carried.

11. Adjournment

There being no further business to come before the Board, it was moved by Member Stearns and seconded by Member McCracken that the meeting be adjourned. The President put the question to the Board and the motion unanimously carried and the meeting so adjourned at 6:34 p.m.
