McDonough County Road and Bridge Committee Met May 6.

Here is the minutes provided by the committee:

The McDonough County Road and Bridge Committee held their monthly meeting at 7:00 P.M. Committee Members present included Vice Chair Mike Cox, Lee Calvert, Eric Chapman, and Craig Foster. Members absent were Chair Dave Cortelyou, George Dixon, Rod McGrew, and Dick Marcott. Other persons in attendance: Dave Cadwalader, Rick Walker, Patrick Stout, Scott Hance, County Chair Scott Schwerer, and County Board Secretary Erica  Wilmot.  

Vice Chair Mike Cox called the meeting to order at 7:00 P.M.  

Review Minutes from April 1, 2021 

Member Chapman moved with a second by Member Foster to approve the minutes as submitted.Motion carried on a  voice vote. 

McDonough County, County Aid to Bridge Project #1530-85 

Member Calvert moved with a second by Member Chapman to approve the McDonough County, County Aid to Bridge  Project #1530-85. Motion carried on a voice vote. 

425th Road, Township District #1 and Riverstone Meeting 

A discussion was held, no action taken. 

Project Status Update 

Engineer Rick Walker gave an update. They should be done with the piling on Center Church Road this week. After the  beams are in it should go quick. Engineer Walker projects finishing up as soon as July or August. 

Bushnell bridge project has been hit or miss with the weather. When the weather changes it should go quickly. Member  Foster asked about the density. Engineer Walker stated it looks good and tight. He also stated that there will be a flat  shoulder and it should be done by the end of June or July depending on the weather. 

Engineer Walker also informed the Committee that County Highway 24 should start next week. They should Seal Coat by the end of July. He also stated that they have increased the price of the seal coating to .60 cents a gallon. 

Engineer Walker informed the Committee that they have not received the truck yet, but should be getting it within the next month.  

Engineer Walker also confirmed that they will receive $134,322.00 of COVID money to be spent on Federal projects with a September 2024 deadline. 

April Work Report 

Report given by Dave Cadwalader.  

Claims 

Member Chapman moved with a second by Member Foster to approve the claims submitted. Motion carried on a voice vote. 

Other Business

County Chair Comments 

County Chair Schwerer informed the Committee that there are numerous vaccination clinics being held in May, and that the Bushnell Carnival is giving away free ride tickets for anyone receiving a vaccination. Chair Schwerer also stated that the number of Covid cases in young children is increasing, and that Illinois is moving to Phase 5 around July 14th. County Chair Schwerer also informed the Committee that Dave Cortelyou is recovering and sounds much better.

Member Chapman moved with a second by Member Calvert to adjourn the meeting at 7:28 p.m. Motion carried on a voice vote.
