State Sen. Win Stoller (R-Germantown Hills) is sponsoring legislation that will add the Ronald McDonald House Charities Fund to Illinois' tax checkoff program.
Illinois' tax checkoff program allows for taxpayers to designate whole dollar amounts above $1 to selected charities and causes that are a part of the state's program, a press release from Stoller's office said.
"The Ronald McDonald House Charities provides an invaluable service to families faced with the medical hardships of a sick child. This tax checkoff program will help ensure that Ronald McDonald House can continue to provide assistance to Illinois families who need it," Stoller wrote in a Facebook post.
Amber Kaylor, CEO of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois, said it is the mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities to help keep families close to their children undergoing medical treatment.
Kaylor said she is appreciative of leadership in the state that promotes individuals making charitable contributions which allows the Ronald McDonald House Charities to further its mission across the 29 counties in Illinois covered by the charity.
Senate Bill 81 unanimously passed both the Illinois Senate and House, and will now head to the governor’s desk.
