Citing a rise in vaccinations and an overall decrease in COVID-19 cases, state Sen. Jil Tracy (R-Quincy) is imploring Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker to act now in loosening restrictions across the state.

“Illinoisans are waiting for the next phase of reopening to begin, but Pritzker hasn’t released any details about moving forward,” Tracy posted on Facebook on March 12.

Senate Republicans also urge the governor to allow legislators a greater say in what direction the state takes in battling the virus.

Since the pandemic hit a year ago, GOP lawmakers said Pritzker imposed at least 76 individual executive orders, compared to no legislative involvement in the decisions that have were made.

“I am urging the governor to work with lawmakers, healthcare and other stakeholders and employers to develop a plan to ramp up the reopening process,” Tracy said in a post on her website.
