Earl F. Swain, 82, of rural LaHarpe, Illinois, loving husband, father, and grandfather, passed away at 10:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2021 at the UnityPoint - Memorial Hospital, Carthage, Illinois.
Earl was born on August 29, 1938 in Pilot Grove Township, Hancock County, the son of Eldon and Blanche (Earls) Swain. On June 2, 1956 he married Mary Ann Markey in Keokuk, Iowa. She survives.
Earl lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed time spent with friends and family. He worked most of his life as a logger and farmer. Earl was proud of the years he operated the Devils Bowl Speedway, near Ft. Green, Illinois.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann; three daughters, Sandra Crutcher of Havana, Illinois, Becky Van Niewaal of Ft. Madison, Iowa and Debbie (Jeff) Hyde of Blandinsville, Illinois; eleven grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one granddaughter, Tommie Gail Link.
A celebration of Earl’s life will be held at a later date. No memorial fund has been established, however, cards may be sent to Mary Ann Swain, 2756 East County Road 2050, LaHarpe, Illlinois 61450.
