Village of Altona Village Board met Jan. 7.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

 The board meeting was called to order by President Derrick Appell. Board members present: President: Derrick Appell. Clerk: Kelly Sco. Treasurer: Mark Compon. Trustees: Dale Grawe, Shirley Kistler, Keith Holland, Nick Morris, Brian DeVito and Ryan West. Public Present: Chad Long -Village Attorney and 1 guest.

 Minutes approved from December 3rd, 2020 meeting was motioned to approve by Shirley and 2nd by Dale. All Ayes

 Payment of bills approved for January was motioned by Keith and 2nd by Ryan. Ayes: Dale, Shirley, Keith, Nick,Brian and Ryan. Passes: 6-0

 Financial report was reviewed by Mark Compton – There was an interfund transfer of $40 from Corp. Checking to Refuse Checking.

 Public Comment: Rich Wegner was asking what streets/area are considered “Downtown”? Reply was 2 blocks of 34 and 4.

Old Business

 Code Book Revisions & Passage of Ordinances: It was discussed about various properties that would fall under the “Unsafe Building” Passage and what is the status with these properties and what is the next step. We need to get the process started.

 Village Weather Warning System: Need to get with Ameren and discuss options and need a quote for the install of a secondary unit.

 Mid Century Communications Fiber Optc Update: Hoping to be done with the Main lines around March and starting to connect to houses around April. Weather permitting.

New Business:

 Announcements were read by Derrick: Wishing Everyone a Happy New Year!

 Altona Volunteer Fireman Soup Lunch: Sunday, February 28th. 11 – 2, $5.00 donation. Will deliver local. There will be no inside dining. Lunch proceeds will help raise funds for safety equipment to be used by Altona volunteer firemen.

 2021 – 2022 Appropriations: Continue to work on figures for upcoming projects for the 2021-2022 Appropriations. 

Committee Reports

 Water/Sewer:

 Had sewer jetted on Lilly and will talk about doing it more often, such as a preventive maintenance.

 Discussed again about delinquent water bills.

 Streets/Garbage:

 We are scheduled for a seal coat on the North side between July and August.

 Parks/Sidewalks:

 Park projects updates (mulch, shingling, painting etc.…): no changes

 Employee Report

 Adjournment: Ryan motioned to adjourn at 8:36 p.m. and Shirley 2nd the motion. All Ayes. The next scheduled meeting will be Thursday, February 4th, 2021
