CALL TO ORDER
The regular meeting of the United Board of Education was called to order at 5:00 p.m. Roll was called and answered by: Dana Poole, Joel Johnson, Aaron Leary, Craig Allaman, Debbie King, Amelia Tierney and Hank Shimmin.
CLOSED SESSION
A motion was made by Aaron Leary with a second by Debbie King to enter into closed session with intent to return to discuss negotiations and working conditions. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Debbie King, Joel Johnson, Craig Allaman, Aaron Leary, Amelia Tierney and Hank Shimmin. Nay – none.
OPEN SESSION
At 6:02 the board entered the regular session. Roll was called and answered by: Dana Poole, Joel Johnson, Aaron Leary, Craig Allaman, Debbie King, Amelia Tierney and Hank Shimmin. Also in attendance were: Several community members, Amy Schmitz, Chris Schwarz, Chad Robertson, Pat Coate, Maggie Wallace and Kris Repp
AGENDA
Hank Shimmin made a motion to approve the agenda as amended with a second by Aaron Leary. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Debbie King,
Joel Johnson, Craig Allaman, Aaron Leary, Amelia Tierney and Hank Shimmin. Nay – none.
PUBLIC COMMENTS
Jesse Hare spoke to the board. A letter was read from Keri Jameson.
FEES
Aaron Lear made a motion to approve fees with an increase to $100 per day for substitute pay. Amelia Tierney seconded the motion. Roll Call:
Aye – Dana Poole, Debbie King, Joel Johnson, Craig Allaman, Aaron Leary, Amelia Tierney and Hank Shimmin. Nay – none.
BUDGET
A motion to permit preparation of a tentative bidguet for 2021-22 was made by Hank Shimmin with a second by Aaron Leary. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Debbie King, Joel Johnson, Craig Allaman, Aaron Leary, Amelia Tierney and Hank Shimmin. Nay – none.
TRACK
The approval of bids regarding track base surfacing was tabled.
RETURN TO SCHOOL
Aaron Leary made a motion to return to school from 8-3 beginning March 1, 2021. Amelia Tierney seconded the motion. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Debbie King, Joel Johnson, Craig Allaman, Aaron Leary, Amelia Tierney and Hank Shimmin. Nay – none.
ABATE FUNDS
A motion to abate $4,000 from the Working Cash Fund to the Capital Construction Fund was made by Hank Shimmin with a second by Aaron Leary. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Debbie King, Joel Johnson, Craig Allaman, Aaron Leary, Amelia Tierney and Hank Shimmin. Nay – none.
CONSENT AGENDA
A motion to approve the consent agenda as presented was made by Aaron Leary with a second by Debbie King. Those employed in the consent agenda include Christine Shannon Cross Category teacher for the 2021-22 school year. Jordan Shelton as Paraprofessional at United West and Cala Earp as Cross-Cat paraprofessional at United West for the remainder of the 20-21 school year. The resignation of Brooke Anderson as UHS softball assistant coach was regretfully accepted. Roll Call: Aye – Dana Poole, Amelia Tierney, Debbie King, Craig Allaman, Aaron Leary, Hank Shimmin and Joel Johnson. Nay – none.
