CALL TO ORDER

The ROWVA Board of Education met in a special meeting in the High School LMC. The meeting was called to order by Mr. Haynes at 7:00 p.m..

ROLL CALL

The following members answered roll call at 7:00 p.m.:

Mr. Johnson (Present ☒ Not Present ☐), Mr. Kalb (Present ☒ Not Present ☐), Mr. Kuelper (Present ☒ Not Present ☐), Mr. Lake (Present ☒ Not Present ☐), Mrs. Shepherd (Present ☒ Not Present ☐), Mr. West (Present ☒ Not Present ☐), and Mr. Haynes (Present ☒ Not Present ☐). Mr. Johnson attended by phone.

APPROVE AGENDA

Mr. Lake moved and Mr. Kalb seconded the motion to accept the agenda for the meeting.

AUDIENCE TO VISITORS

People present were Board members, administrators, one member of the certified staff and nine members of the public.

SUPERINTENDENT RECOMMENDATION

Recommendation from Joe Sornberger, Superintendent: As for the action items that are mentioned in this Board meeting dealing with IDPH/IHSA Guidelines, my recommendation is to follow the guidelines as presented by the IDPH/IHSA.

SUPERINTENDENT REPORT

Mr. Sornberger presented his Superintendent’s report: All items were Agenda items.

ACTION ITEMS ON SPORTS *Guidelines

Mr. Kuelper made the motion to reduce the 30-foot distance from spectators to participants so a maximum of 50 spectators are allowed into the gym. Mr. Kuelper moved and Mr. West seconded the motion. Polled vote: Mr. Johnson (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Kalb(Aye ☐ Nay ☒), Mr. Kuelper (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Lake (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mrs. Shepherd(Aye ☐ Nay ☒), Mr. West (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), and Mr. Haynes (Aye ☒ Nay ☐). Motion carried 5-2.

*Cheerleading

Mr. Kuelper made the motion that cheerleaders be deemed participants rather than spectators and that cheerleaders are not counted against the fifty-spectator maximum.Mr. Kuelper moved and Mr. West seconded the motion. Polled vote: Mr. Johnson(Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Kalb (Aye ☐ Nay ☒), Mr. Kuelper (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), Mr. Lake(Aye ☐ Nay ☒), Mrs. Shepherd (Aye ☐ Nay ☒), Mr. West (Aye ☒ Nay ☐), and Mr.Haynes (Aye ☒ Nay ☐). Motion carried 4-3.

ADJOURN

Mr. Kuelper moved and Mr. West seconded the motion to adjourn at 8:01 p.m. Motion carried.
